CENTURY COMPLIANCE

Century Compliance is the process of correcting information systems that are unable to handle the Year 2000 (Y2K) because only 2 digits were used to represent the year in date fields. The Foster Group specializes in Century Compliance assessment, remediation, testing, and implementation for business applications running on IBM mainframes. We have also addressed Y2K issues for client/server, local area network, and microcomputer environments. Our experience includes working with and managing the progress of vendors in addressing Y2K issues.

The Foster Group works with a variety of software tools in performing Y2K projects in response to our clients' requirements. For mainframe-based applications we primarily rely on MicroFocus COBOL and MicroFocus SoftFactory/2000 to perform COBOL code remediation. For unit testing, debugging, and system testing, we use Xpeditor, FileAid, DataAger, and Xchange from Compuware most frequently. TransCentury date routines from Platinum Technology are commonly used to replace non-compliant date conversion and leap year processing logic. We also have experience with other Y2K tools from Platinum Technology and Viasoft.
