BUSINESS RECOVERY PLANNING

Business Recovery Planning is the process of managing risks, minimizing losses, and ensuring business continuity in the event of an interruption or disaster to electronically processed information. In most cases a Business Recovery Planning project consists of three phases:

· Business Impact Analysis - This phase evaluates the organization's reliance on information systems from an operational, financial, and legal/regulatory perspective. Insights are obtained to assist in identifying the nature of disruptions that could result from the loss of key application systems. This information is analyzed to establish the financial impact and other non-quantifiable impacts associated with the loss of critical business applications.

· Preparation of the Business Recovery Plan - The preparation phase of the project begins with establishing business recovery teams. This phase raises awareness of the recovery needs and the role team members will play in achieving recovery in the event of a disaster. It also identifies the hardware and software requirements for supporting the critical applications and assures the ability of achieving an operational environment to conduct critical operations. Next the procedures for establishing the recovery environment will be developed. These procedures are critical to successfully migrating the organization's key business applications and current application database to the recovery environment

· Implementation and Testing of the Business Recovery Plan - In this final phase, contractual arrangements are made with the selected business recovery services vendors. Then our team will work with these vendors and make any needed adjustments to the recovery procedures based on the target recovery environment. We will design the initial test plan for confirming the effectiveness of the Business Recovery Plan and the preparedness of the recovery teams. After supervising the execution of these tests, a report will be prepared to document the results of the Business Recovery Plan test and to make recommendations regarding future tests.
